I have both of those suits as well but I've never thought of layering them, I'll have to give that a try, it looks like it could be fun!

If you give it a try it is even better if you add another identical yellow hazmat suit (or similar) that you can put over the top which makes it even better. Have to be careful not to cover the inlet filter with the hood.

i am looking to get a rubber hazmat suit however the reason i hesitate off ebay sellers is not knowing the history behind them if they were used in real emergencies or not. all i have are PUL nuke playsuits, a studiogum heavy rubber suit and an ilc dover chemturion 3525 (looking for a 1212 which is the one used in ET).

Rainwearseeker is right to be concerned about contamination. My suits were purchased from the fire brigade as surplus used training suits so not contaminated. Indian ex shipping trellchem or similar suits available on ebay look very heavily used and probably not safe in my hazmat play. Md latex used to make similar suits which are no longer available. Expensive yes but looked to be worth every penny with their air and watertight zips. One just sold on ebay for over 1000 pounds. A studio gum rubber prison or similar is a really good option but the zips are not waterproof which is a shame. Do you have any probs with the zip. Currently I am in the process of joining the legs and top of a zodiac suit and installing a dry zip so it is easier to put on. Will add pics soon. These are brilliant suits and really heavy. that was the issue because many suits i saw on ebay i did not trust when the seller was not sure where it came from. my studio gum suit is a rear side zipper.

i do find it difficult to zip up the suit however even when i use a long cord with a doorknob i see how easy it is to zip up and if i have a hard time i unzip what i was able to zip up because i need to wear a gas mask attached to one of the connecting valves. i got the mask still sealed but i was told it was unused however it is a russian gas mask so idk what the integrity of its history was even if supposedly unused which is why i never opened it.

my PUL modified SU18 i tried to have converted into an enclosure suit where a glass clear visor was glued onto the hood however it was too small for me and the neck line ripped. part of the problem was having a hood from my sauna suit in addition to the drawstring. unfortunately the repair service will no longer provide any requests by claiming my standards are too high. (not even for a rip in another garment.)

mainly what i want modified to the suit is having the neckline rip and open inner hood repaired while the waistline where the elastic stripe used to be is sealed up with the remaining elastic band on the corners is completely sealed up.

as for the additions i am looking to get the grommets removed and the holes sealed while splash guards of the same material are glued on so i have attached foot socks partially covered by by sleeves. i also want to have wrist seals added and soft glove rings.

Sorry for the delay replying. A lot to think about and a busy week.

Gas mask issues are often a problem. I have a gp5 that is unwearable.

It sounds quite difficult to do what you are thinking to the pul suit without being able to weld. I have welded pvc with a hot leather iron but it is very difficult especially with 100percent pvc fabric. Having looked at the pul stuff I can see the fabrics would be difficult to join without a professional welder. Gluing with pvc cement may not work. To achieve a one piece suit with a hood I would take a neoprene coated drysuit remove the neck seal add gloves instead of wrist seals and add a hood to the suit by sewing it on and then sealing the seams with tape and neoprene contact adhesive. Much easier to do with rudimentary tools assuming you have a sewing machine. I made myself something similar with a hood able to accommodate a s10 gas mask with its intake sealed through the hood and the exhaust going into the suit. This suit had feet gloves and over its and the zip was lockable. Very intense and also v difficult to make. Took me a month to see it and seal all the seams. Used an old knackered drysuit as a pattern and made my own hood pattern. The only similar suit I have found available for sale was an md latex suit but at over 1000 I was not able to afford.

i am disappointed MD latex appears to have shut down services. i always wanted to get a suit from there but they were too expensive.

as for gluing pvc. candy coated kink was able to do it and the seams still hold up. the rip was not where it was glued however after that i was unable to get any services from that provider anymore.

the gp5 gas mask i got from studio gum so idk if this one is wearable. i was informed it was unused however.
