I think that if that advert like was shown now there would be a storm of protest from feminists; a man sending his missus out to get a beer for him, we can't have that!

For sure it is not compatible with our today's political/ethnical/gender.... correctness madness which has taken over in a dimension more and more people are so sick of it.Rainworshipper wrote: August 5th, 2025, 5:20 am I think that if that advert like was shown now there would be a storm of protest from feminists; a man sending his missus out to get a beer for him, we can't have that!
The 1970s were so funny in some things (we don't need to take some things too seriously for sure). On German TV there was a series of short 3 min. clips for giving advice for safety on the road traffic, mostly for car drivers but for cyclists and pedestrians as well. It was called "Der 7. Sinn" (the 7th sense) and the speaker's severe voice and the style of content was created in typical severe school teacher behaviour. One episode from 1975 (!) is called "Frau am Steuer" (women behind the wheel). The message was: women behind the wheel mostly have no driving skills like men and so men have to take care if a women is driving a car because for safety reasons and to avoid a crash. "In case of a mechanical you can show your need for support by opening the bonnet. This sign will be understood."
The real funny thing is: This wasn't meant as satirical content, it was meant serious. In today's view you can't believe that this was even possible in these times (1975!).

Just watched that 1970s German video with the subtitle auto-translate on. Classic - nearly spilt my tea laughing, and the lady in the Yellow car has a mac on!
