On work trip in California and the air b&b they booked us has plastic sheets on the mattresses,
Needless to say it’s wonderful! Been sleeping in my room on just the plastic sheets, would love some plastic pants to wear with it, sadly being a work trip and shared house I couldn’t risk it

Used to happen occasionally when I had to stay away overnight years ago but I think modern hospitality grading effectively outlawed simple plastic sheet mattress covers some time ago. Some were fitted, others had tie-tapes but they were all very practical if overnight guests were children, heavy drinkers or jut very fond of each other.

Surprised and delighted to see on "Four in a Bed" an aparthotel in Boston (Lincs) where the proprietors (two lovely young blonde women) still put plastic mattress covers on the beds. As one observed, "You gotta protect your mattresses!"

I woke late and spotted the sheet poking out only as I packed my suitcase on the end of the bed. There was no time to become acquainted with its delicious smooth silky surface as I was in such a rush. A few months later I returned to the area on business again and went out of my way to book in to the same hotel, but to my great disappointment the mattress cover was not at all plastic. Ever since that first day I have always checked the whole room for anything soft and shiny when staying away but never have found anything.

Don't you just hate it when that happens! I once had to stay in a mid-range hotel in Coventry for work and found I had been given a room with twin beds. My usual quick check revealed that a tie-taped full length plastic sheet had been left in situ on one of them, presumably inadvertently after a child had stayed. One fewer decision to make.
