Anyone else having Ebay issues?

For over 2 decades now I've been buying rainsuits, rubber boots and waders from all over the world without any problems, the USA has been a very fertile market for my kinky purchases and up until recently there's never been an issue getting them shipped over to the UK through ebay's global shipping programme. As I live in a block of flats, (a tennament block or "closie" as we call them in Scotlland), there's 2 numbers in my address, the street number and my door number ie: 1a 1 My Street... I've now had 2 parcels come from the USA where the 1a part has been removed from the address somewhere along the line and the postie has had to return the parcel as he doesn't know which of the 8 doors in my block to knock on, I was able to collect the first parcel from the sorting office before it was returned but I've just lost a pair of rubber lined chest waders which were supposed to be delivered by Parcelforce, their delivery depot is 25 miles from me in another town and I couldn't get there to collect them. While I was browsing ebay today I've noticed now that a lot of items that show up in search results located in the US are showing "shipping not specified", I don't know what's going on with ebay's international shipping now but it looks like one of my most fruitful sources of rainwear and boots has been cut off, my over-flowing cupboards might be relieved, but I'm not! Has anyone else had issues with shipping from overseas through ebay or is it just me? the way my luck runs, it's probably just me!!

since the tariffs, it has been much harder for me to get rainwear from europe and places in the region that do allow shipping to the US have much higher shipping costs than before. from the UK, i used to be able to make purchases but now those sellers either don't ship to the US anymore more frequently or have those much higher costs. from germany, it has been much rarer to find a seller who ships to the US now. i got a PUL rain suit from directly from the store and the shipping cost plus the customs surcharge significantly raised the price.

Don't wonder when German private sellers don't ship outside Germany - it's not bc we don't like you but mostly it's for the simple fact Ebay offers free selling for private German users only for sales within Germany. If you accept international shipping you will be charged with a fee - I also don't ship outside Germany just bc of that.

I expect a recent Ebay purchase delivered by UPS. Just tried to reroute the parcel, it didn't show me my usual pick-up shops in town. WTF??? UPS is the real pain in the a.... –

That is a shame but I do understand why, I have seen some fantastic looking gear on ebay.de I wished I'd been able to buy, wathose, gummistiefel, schutzanzug, gummianzug, gummihandschuhe and gummihose are searches I do on ebay regularly just incase there's a German seller who will ship to the UK.

this is the problem i have with ebay in general. it is not international shipping friendly. trade politics don't help either and it is absurd how high shipping costs can be. the tariffs is partially to blame for ebay changing its international shipping programs if i understand correctly.

i have gotten shipments from international sellers before in the past but like i said, the shipping fees were very high. i go on ebay.de to look up rainwear and chemical protection suits however recently i noticed many are sold in india where i do not trust the integrity of its condition or history at all and yet those sellers do ship to the US.

For the UK the problem started with Europe when we voted to leave the EEC. It used to be so easy and now buying fromEurope is less so. Buying from US also seems more difficult but that probably comes down to various tariffs which may or may not occur at the whim of you know who. That said I just bought a raincoat from US and it all went smoothly.

I long for the much simpler times of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

I often have problems with ebay, and it is as annoying as hell. For some peculiar reason, the UK is sometimes not listed in the 'Ships To' list of destination countries, although the seller cannot emphasise enough that he/she has opted for the ebay international shipping program. I have found a way to resolve this issue: I ask the seller to relist, omitting certain keywords like 'toy' (ebay has a keyword-detecting algorithm) , and I ask the seller to list in a different (non-toy) category. I'm sorry, but the 'Nanny State' UK govt are not going to dictate what I, as a grown adult, can or can't enjoy for myself.

Leaving the EU customs union has caused me problems. For example, prior to Brexit I could easily order plants (I'm a keen plant enthusiast) from nurseries in, say, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy. Without even needing a phytosanitary certificate. Now, not only do I need a phyto certificate (which most EU-member country plant nurseries can't be bothered to provide, as it is too much hassle), but I ALSO must pre-notify UK's DEFRA customs portal what my plant consignment consists of, for inspection at the airport prior to being released from customs. All at extra cost.

About 5 years ago I made a plastic rainmac purchase from Destons in Eastern Europe. I was so looking forward to the arrival, anticipating gummy-soft, squeaky PVC with that lovely strong 'new PVC aroma'. Upon opening the package, I was very disappointed: the plastic rainmacs, which were the glass clear variety in various colours, had a paper-like texture. They felt somewhat stiff. And the PVC, despite being glossy, did not have any of the surface 'tackiness' (blocking or 'stick-slip') that is responsible for the rustling/crackling/squeaking noise I enjoy so much as a PVC material fetishist. You know why? Well, the glass clear rainmacs sold by Destons happen to be for children, but the XL sizes easily fit average/medium-sized adults. Because of the overzealous restrictions applying to phthalate-type PVC plasticizers in children's PVC articles/goods, that horrible 6P-free PVC is now used, which simply does not have the same sensory, tactile and noise qualities I find so appealing. Ironically, the Destons macs came in a light dusting of talc/starch (a removable anti-block additive which is applied as a surface dusting to make glossy, typically strongly-blocking, PVC easier to work with during manufacturing and packing), but given the 6P-free PVC's lack of blocking, I don't know why they (they = the PVC raincoat manufacturers in China) bothered adding the talc/starch dusting!
