A few years back, during a similarly dry spell, I went out early in the morning wearing my Regatta overtrousers and Peter Storm cagoule with nothing on underneath. Delightfully cool and slightly overcast at just after 5am, but somehow I got lost. I was walking back through the edge of town at 7:30am in what was already clear and dry conditions, lovely and slippery under my nylon prison, but embarrassed as I passed by people, who must have thought I was mad! Anyone else deliberately or accidentally been trapped in shiny rainwear?

Re: Caught in the heat
Many years ago I decided to do a circular walk dressed in only two layers of gear (Peter Storm cagoules and raintrousers) and Hunter wellies. I planned it out carefully and set off on a murky grey morning driving to the car park I had chosen. This was way before weather apps and guess what? Probably halfway around the walk the clouds cleared and the sun came out…! It got quite hot quite quickly but obviously I was unable to remove anything or even unzip. I can remember getting pretty sweaty and very self aware of how I was dressed. The last part of the walk back to the car park was somewhat embarrassing as people who had clearly started the walk that way round were dressed only in shorts and T-shirts. My memory says there were no really awkward moments, but I'm sure some who saw me that day wondered why I was in full waterproofs in the bright sunshine or at least, why I hadn't removed them now the sun was out.
