Nylon cagoules and windbreakers

Rainworshipper is right however I very rarely find rainwear I like such as Henri Lloyd, peter storm, field and trek etc in charity shops. These days charity shops seem to sift the stuff that arrives and sell good stuff on ebay and their descriptions and sizing is almost as bad. Can get bargains though but they are getting rare. I suppose being realistic the stuff I am looking for is getting older and older with less chance of finding an almost unworn example. I bagged a Peterstorm lightweight MVT cag last week that had hardly been worn. When you think that this cag dates from the very early nineties or perhaps the late eighties (pockets are zipped and on the inside) it is amazing that the really smooth shiny waterproof coating on the inside is still perfect. These cags seem to turn up a lot on ebay etc as the fabric is so good that they just last and last. PS really new how to make fabric back then. Now it is all made in China for a few pence per garment it is no wonder the modern stuff lasts less than 10 years which is also bad for the planet too. Neoprene coated nylon which is my favorite fabric also lasts very well assuming it has not had sun cream rubbed off onto it. I have some cagoules that date back to the 70s that are still really good and 100% waterproof.

Occasionally get lucky and get a PS cagoule, found 2 this year locally and just missed a lovely tri colour red white and blue ome a lady walked out the shop with still on the hangar!! 5 mins earlier it would have been mine. I check our local charity shops once a week if i can.

I don’t often take photos of me in my Rainwear, very occasionally I do. Um maybe next time i am going through my collection i’ll pop on a blue with white stripes on and get a photo to out on my collection.

Should be lovely! I just have one of these old ones with stripes left, I saved it when my wife was in a cleaning mood. A lot of old jackets and rainwear was given to charity or went into the trash bin if they were in bad condition. We had a couple of thin red nylon rainwear that we used when sailing, jackets and pants, so lovely to play in. After we sold the boat, we used them for garden work. So swischy to work in but they got less and less waterproof. So finally, she scapped them. Still miss them and I could only save one that I had out in our summer house.
