Disappointed by "Call the Midwife"
Supposed to be set in 1950's East London but not a plastic mac or a rubber apron/sheet in sight in first episode! Doubt we should hold our breath.

Yes. Where were the red rubber aprons, bed sheets and SBR mackintoshes?

Can't say that I think that the series has improved much as it has gone on. Also in the 1950's you would have had to have negotiated washing lines groaning under the weight of towelling nappies and plastic pants to get to those front doors. Another once familiar "street scene" that has probably vanished forever.

I do not think that the N.H.S in the 1950's could afford to give their nurse's SBR coats at that time more like Gabadine macs for those on the District.
Or capes for hospital nurses.

If disappointed by this then suggest you watch "confessions of a staff nurse" on C4 / E4.
Only end up watching it with my wife as same hospital she has worked at for 20 plus years. Loads of plastic gloves, aprons and watch when they do the medicine round the aprons they have to where are very thick sea through blue plastic. They almost look very sexy, pity they abandoned the white uniforms for nurses 5 years ago
. Worth a record and flick to best bits...
