Re: NYLON PLASTIC AND OLD MEN
I too wore nylon/plastic raincoats, mainly Regatta ones. I am not particularly a fan of the nylon type of material but Regatta used to line them with a smooth Polyurethane coating, which was lovely and cool to the touch when slipping one on over bare arms(or even bare everything
). My main rainwear for years has been my old Klepper mac, which I think was the German version of the Pakamac, in its day. That has a beautiful rubber smell to it when worn in the rain.

As a child yes my macs had to be worn fully done up when out no excuses. When there was rain I had to wear a plastic rain bonnet. Not a good look for a young boy. I had these until I was 18 and had to be worn.1000Raincoats wrote: July 31st, 2025, 7:52 amDo you also wear your nylon raincoats even when it's not raining or sunny? I do….Andyf08 wrote: July 30th, 2025, 6:47 pmI have nylon raincoats from the 70's. Long ones with just buttons and no hoods. Had to wear these as a child.1000Raincoats wrote: July 28th, 2025, 6:50 am Hi!
First of all I would like to say that I am not gay but I love the old nylon raincoats from the 60’s and 70’s and wear them daily.
If anyone is interested in chatting about these raincoats you are welcome to send a PM.
When I was married ex found out about this from my mum and decided it would return. I had various different nylon rainmacs to which some of them were ladies. Before we would go out she would check the weather. If there was a 15% or more chance of rain a mac had to be worn. If more than 20% a bonnet had to be worn also. Funny how I never got to see the weather forecast. Very embarrassing when it was sunny.

Are people looking at you or is it just a completely normal everyday thing that no one notices? I wish I could wear my nylon raincoats anytime, anywhere. But I only go to selected places. However, more places if it's raining. Then there's a "legal" reason to wear a raincoat.

I love still wearing the macs especially the female ones. I dont tend to wear them out just brings back memories of being made to wear then and the humiliation. I do however when them when I regularly meet a man who likes the look.
I do have many others macs, cagoules and coats but do always have a raincoat with me just incase of rain.
You dont see many people nowadays prepared for rain then just get wet.

My sister is 18 years older than me so she was an adult when I was 4-5 years old and got the raincoat. This raincoat followed me everywhere and I had it until I became an adult myself.
As a child it was way too big for me and dragged me around the floor. As an adult it was way too small and was also worn to pieces. My parents and siblings thought it was funny that I was so in love with that raincoat. I remember sometimes sleeping in it at night. I also remember that I had to have a raincoat because I was going to start cycling to school. I wanted a nylon raincoat like that but I wasn't allowed to have it. It had to be an oilskin-like coat in yellow.
At the time I wasn't aware that it was a fetish. When I became an adult and started earning my own money I searched all the second-hand shops to find a nylon raincoat. And I've been doing that ever since....
I found a nylon raincoat pretty quickly but I was very shy and didn't dare wear it in public or at home. What wouldn't my parents say.......? But I couldn't stop looking for nylon raincoats and buying them if I saw them.
It wasn't until many years later that I started wearing them in public. Especially when I was walking the dog but I have occasionally worn a raincoat if I've been to a supermarket to shop. I have also occasionally worn a raincoat in sunny weather but in a different city than where I live.![]()
I'm getting better and better at wearing a nylon raincoat as a regular coat.
I think a nylon raincoat is more neutral to wear than, for example, a rubber raincoat. The nylon raincoat can be used in all kinds of weather and it was also in the 60's and 70's when it was fashionable. At that time it was used in all kinds of weather here in Denmark - especially by women.

It had a bright red raincover, which now I realise was nylon. It had a hood with a extremely large peak sticking out. The zip went virtually the bottom right upto my neck. The slide part of the zip you could push down and that sort of locked it in place. I used to love it and was pretty upset when it had to go. You don't get anything like that now it's all plastic.1000Raincoats wrote: August 1st, 2025, 7:11 am

When I started school that was my first long nylon mac. A bit like you it was way to big but grew into it over the years. Was not allowed anything else it was only these. At senior school I also rode my bike but still no let up in the mac, but had to wear plastic cycling cape in bright yellow. You can imagine the comments from older children about my outfits.
With ex we regularly went to charity shops for my embarrassing outfits. She did not care just kept picking out stuck to try on. There were not a whole of nylon macs about in these but did get a few, always having to try them on in the shop and parade around wearing them.
I do like to wear a nylon rain jacket just not the ones I used to wear. No one really cares whether you have a raincoat or not.
You dont see people in older style raincoats now which is such a shame.

Re: NYLON PLASTIC AND OLD MEN
Hi!
I know there is a forum for pictures and videos but I'm trying to ask my question here as I can sense that there are a lot of nylon raincoat fans here.
Does anyone know if there are any pictures of people working or in other everyday situations, e.g. gardening and wearing nylon raincoats at the same time?
It would be good to see ordinary people wearing raincoats instead of models and AI pictures.
I myself wear one of my nylon raincoats as often as possible. Partly when I'm shopping or doing gardening.
I know it's hard to find these pictures but they are often the best pictures.
