Hi,
Recently I was in the same position as you, one of my favourite pvc garments had a split at one of the seams, It took me quite a while to research the right kind of glue for the job in hand, eventually I found a product which I hoped would be suitable. I have no experience in pvc repairs but decided to go for it. It took me several hours to accomplish the repair, from plucking the courage to actually applying the product, to carefully folding the seams back in place, I have not regretted doing the repair. Sadly trying to find a "commercial" repair service maybe not possible these days. Consider doing your own, careful planning was the key for me, you never know you may even surprise yourself.

unfortunately i don't really have any place to repair it especially with the fumes from the glue could be hazardous. it is a significant rip and the garment needs modifications.

Hi,
I had the same issues, well the fumes from the glue, May I suggest having a look/search for "stormsure" glue, I think the website maybe www.stormsure.com, The significant rip, could possibly be patched? any repair may not be "invisible" but could it add to the story of said garment, well used/loved. I am not able to suggest anything regarding modifications.

what i am worried about as well is messing up. the rip is by the neck line and is very difficult to repair even with a patch. i tried taping it up but it did not work so well.

Hi,
Ok I think I understand now, with the rip being by the neck line of garment, a patch may still work if the patch is shaped/curved to the shape of the neck line, ie crescent shaped patch, in theory the patch should lie flat & not stretch the curve of the original neck line. If I was attempting this repair I would use a paper "template/pattern" to cut & shape the patch, it would be a bit trial & error, Also it would give me more confidence going forward.

the neckline needs to be patched up while there is a belt line with some small holes after i cut out an elastic strap (with some remnants), and it still has metal grommets from a draw string that i want to remove and patch up. there is also cuffs i want to add as the garment has attached foot socks so they can act as splash guards when wearing boots. i also wanted to do the same thing for the sleeves when wearing gloves.

if the sleaves and other ouvertures have elastics, find a round thing, so say a can, put in the sleave, it will bend the elastic leavine a smooth surfacre to work !!

Hi, Rainwearseeker,
Thanks for the more info, sadly I do not think I have enough experience to suggest any further help, the rip/holes probably can be patched but the alterations/changes, way out of my league/experience.I wish you well in your endeavours, but as they say in a well known TV programme "I am out".

If fixing the problem is causing you anxiety, at some point it would be better to buy new.
