A few days ago we had an all too brief downpour that was so heavy you could hardly see when driving even with fast wipers.
I was suitably attired in my Peter Storm cagoule. Upon arriving at the supermarket with it still raining hard I noticed not a single person had bothered to take any precautions against the weather. Not even an umbrella. Everyone but me was looking decidedly wet and uncomfortable, especially as the store was really cold due to the air con. By the time I exited it was bright sunshine and quite a lot of evidence that there had ever been any rain was already evaporating.
I presume people don’t carry an emergency raincoat in the car anymore?
The storm made no dent in my parched garden’s thirst, despite the water running in mini rivers for a few minutes. It was as if the whole thing never happened, and the sun that followed seemed intent on eradicating all evidence as quickly as it could.

Re: Flash Storm
Cherie - what sort of Peter storm do you have and what colour? New or vintage style? Overhead or zip front?
I don’t own a car but I always have a cagoule in my rucksack when cycling and / or I normally make sure I have my cagoule with me when I have to use the work van.
An ex girlfriend of mine when I was younger used to borrow her mums car from time to time and her mum used to keep a cagoule on the back seat. It was an old style one with a few different colours on it and from memory it was made by a company called ‘walrus’. I asked my GF to wear it for me and, in general she would refuse. Once though, we were staying at a B and B near Brighton and she had borrowed her mums car for the trip. It unexpectedly rained on the first night and she popped it in as we went for a wander to a local pub….. mmm she looked a picture. We had great sex that evening but she wouldn’t keep it on for me and it hung on the back of the door to our room….. tantalising close! Sometimes that’s the best way though!!

Re: Flash Storm
I wish we would get a few heavy showers round here, it has been pretty dry for weeks now. Hopefully it may change next week.
