'Careful, Soft Shoulders' (US comedy film from 1942). Virginia Bruce wears a long semi-transparent plastic mac, with the hood up, in a very nice rainy scene.
Timing: 18'-14" to 19'-42". Best setting for this one is 480 pixels.

I love it that people near her just got umbrellas. She is only one in this type of mac, don't think any of the extras has a plastic mac.

Wonderful find i just adore those old plastic macs that were common in the US up to the sixties, so full and transparent
I'm also a fan of the vintage plastic macs from the 1930s/'40s and '50s - love the pointy hoods on them too!

Yeah, usually in such scenes from films there are others (actresses/extras) wearing a few macs - but not here!
Can anyone help? There was a flm made sometime in the 30@s in which some show girls start off travalling on a train. The next 'scene, two girls come out of a lift (elevator both wearing long translucent macs, and one goes into an office where she hangs the mac up before saitting down behind a desk. Sorrt to be so vague; I always thought that it was one of the Zeigfeld Follies film but I cant trace that.
Secondly, anyone know what happened to a site that used to be around called "rainwear in the Movies" I think?

Rothbhoy, you are truly a gem. Lightening fast and spot on again.
There was a succession of Goddiggers movies but this I think the ok nly one featuring plastic rainwear. I've often wondered when plastic macs were first available and this must be ones of the earliest films featuring them.
As to the vinyl rain site it was a. early joy in the lonely world of plastic Mac lovers, but sadly it's growth stopped some years ago. Thank goodness we have the occasional MisterMacRain posting on YouTube and of course yours and Beth's cornucopia of rare videos.
Thanks for your wonderful and ongoing support of this forum. I just hope that we are not getting to the bottom of your bag of goodiies
