Look & sizing of PUL raincoats/macs

Post by Izzitpvc »

Hi,
I am looking to purchase from our good friends at PUL, either RA01, fashion mac or RA05 men's trad rain, my preference is the RA01, however the description is that is "unisex". but when i view the website images it looks better suited for ladies. Being male and only 5ft 9" & very possibly "overweight" hoping there are folks on this forum who are the proud owners of either of these garments and can give a hands on view. I know the quality & material, looking at GRS3S, the description also states the coat is 52" long (appx) I can't seem to get any idea how that would look at being 5ft 9" and being on the larger side or just plain "fat" should XL or 2XL be the size. Hopefully someone can assist.

Cheers

PUL tend to measure on the large size, so I would say 2XL would be perfect for you

Hi Mason,
Many thanks for the info about sizing, you wouldn’t happen to be the proud owner of any of these garments to be able to give any inside info, as I mentioned re the length and only being small in stature are these garments likely to be too long? for me

If I may add here. The size guide on the PUL website is pretty accurate.

Those macs are quite long. I am 6'2 and mine come down well past the knee. They would be close to shin length on you but that is no bad thing (maybe).

As for fit I prefer to have the RA02 UK made as PUL will put the snaps on to do up the male way which I prefer.

Also bizarrely if you order from the Elements website they are cheaper. No idea why as they are the same product.

Hi Merv,
Thanks that is precisely the info I was looking, extremely helpful, I am not sure why I did not see RA02, perhaps my budget comes into play here? I have heard of "elements rainwear" but not just "elements" one in the same? the overall length of garment might be a slight issue, I will need to give this some careful thought! for me there is no acceptable length or rules, it seems down to personal choice. As I struggle to make any half decent "personal choices" in many things. On a positive note at least my jeans will unlikely get wet from the knees down.

It is Elements Rainwear to give the site it's full name. They are PUL under another name as you probably realise but without the more fetish stuff. I don't want to put words into the owner's mouth but think the idea is to appeal to people who simply want to buy rainwear to keep dry.

Thanks, I did have a very quick look at Elements website, I thought it had a very familiar look to our friends at PUL website, when time allows I will investigate further.
