Until the beginning of the Eighties shiny vinyl coats were considered chic fashion items and were also worn (and definitely also meant that way by the designers) on sunny days. It has nothing to do with failing to remove in my opinion. Even recently some ladies have worn vinyl trench coats instead of vinyl dresses as party outfit.

There is something about seeing someone wearing a pvc or plastic mac on a non-raining day. You always wonder why a little bit.
"wonder why"? The play was recorded in the West of Scotland - famous for its four seasons in half-an-hour weather!

Superb find Rothbhoy. Adorable when ladies fail to remove their macs when indoors, or even when outside on a sunny day.

Very true - C&A, Debenhams and the Val Allan shops were the places to get them!
