1980's glass clear raincoats/macs
Does anyone have any photos of those glass clear PVC raincoats that were common during the late 1980's? They were glass clear raincoats with a glossy/shiny appearance (as opposed to frosted or semi-transparent), and came in a range of colours- clear, glass clear blue, glass clear red and glass clear green. Back in the late 1980's, when I was about 7/8 years old, I recall seeing these raincoats in the clothes shops. I was transfixed by their appearance- how they glistened under the shop lighting, and the nice 'rustling' sort of noise they made if you touched them or lightly brushed against them. I really wanted one of these raincoats (sadly, that never came to be) and became envious of others who were wearing them. I recall that they had a chunky drawstring rope at the hem. I believe that these childhood raincoat experiences, although purely non-sexual at the time, left a lasting imprint on my mental subconsciousness, which gave rise to my PVC fetish once I had entered puberty.

Ah yes, the ever-popular "jelly jacket", or, as it was known alternately here in the States, the "jellybean jacket"...clear, red, blue, green, yellow, orange purple...an endearing classic, and every few years some clothing designer will bring it back for Spring, they'll appear on the racks for a few weeks and then they'll be gone again. I haven't seen one of the original ones from the '80s in the flesh in years, would be interesting to see how well they held up over time.

I've got around a dozen of these beautiful jackets in virtually every colour. The girls sure still like them too. One Philippine bar girl whom I met in Angeles City, actually slept in 'her' jelly jacket (and yellow rainpants). She wanted to take it home with her, but I said "no".

I had my first clear blue 'bomber' jacket in the mid to late 70's bought from a womens boutique! and my wife and I had clear ones with a tie belt and grey trim from a high street store in the late 70's. You can still order from pvc-u-like.
