Raincoats today

Post by iluvyellowraincoats »

Just my thought.....
It's sad, that people today, would rather get soaked to the skin, rather then put on a raincoat, rainhat and/or rainboots. To me, there;s nothing like putting on your rainwear and going for a nice long walk...Personally speaking, I absolutely hate getting my clothes wet and getting soaked to the skin, I would rather be warm and dry in a raincoat. I remember when I was little, raincoats used to be everywhere...now, the only time I see them is people fishing off the jetty....might have to go to a football game in the rain, see what I get to see....what a shame that is.....
Fashion goes in cycles, maybe its time for raincoats to make a comeback......

I share your frustration 100%. I've never been able to understand why so many people would rather get wet than wear proper wet weather gear; in particular PVC rainwear. I find it absolutely amazing how people (especially teenagers or 20-somethings) wear sweet FA in the way of rainwear at the footy; it appears they would much rather get soaked to the bone rather than wear anything appropriate for the conditions. Do they think it's tough or something? Macho?

Anyway, I also hardly ever see proper (by which, I mean plastic or shiny PVC) rainwear anywhere. Period. I think I've only ever seen two really good sightings since 2000! One was a cute young woman wearing a plastic raincoat very similar to my one in the city. She saw me walking past & gave me a really great big smile. That look on her face ... it was like, 'you too?'. If only I'd stopped to chat with her. The other one was a really slim young girl pushing a stroller. She was wearing a shiny translucent blue plastic rancoat somewhere in Fitzroy and ... it wasn't even raining! Unfortnately, I was in my car so I didn't get a very long look as the lights changed rather quickly *sigh* That was ten years ago ... otherwise I've seen nothing since other than the usual array of dead boring woollen or Goretex type coats etc.

I think I would probably faint if I actually see anyone (read: the opposite sex) kitted out for the rain in a full set of rainwear; i.e shiny PVC raincoat with a hood (or rainhat), and rain pants with rainboots.

It's so much fun listening to the raun ineffectually stroking my shiny waterproofs and coursing downwards whilest remaining bone-dry - and warm - beneath. Sometimes I do get a bit sweaty but that's OK. Hahaha

How I hope proper rainwear makes a comeback; maybe it will with an increasing trend away from using the car for everything?

I'm in a strange position where I have another fetish for getting wet in or seeing women in wet clothes ! I always wear my raincoats out when I get the opertunity and I love doing them up so you get the patter of the rain on the Mac ! But on the flip side I love swimming and jumping in lakes and pools in my full clothes and rainwear ! I sometimes even just climb in the shower after a walk and I love the way the material gets all soft and shiny under the warm water !! Don't knock it until you try it ;-) lol

Like most people on here, I rarely see women wearing sensible rainwear. There seems to be plenty of so called raincoats that don't look very waterproof but are fashionable. There is little point in putting any kind of fastening on coats anymore as most women can't seem to be bothered to do them up. I found a picture of a girl wearing the latest style of glass-clear plastic mac which lead me to her blog and I was surprised to find she would be putting it on e-bay as a so called friend had said to her when she saw it - "what on earth are you wearing"! As long as there are attitudes like that I can't see 'our' kind of rainwear making a comeback.

For several years, this has been my complaint that more rainwear isn't seen.

Perhaps for men, there is a "macho" concept that they are too tough to be wearing a mackintosh but for women I can see no sense in it.

Somebody told me that the use of cars was the reason but even ladies have to get out of the car at some point.

I know I'm older than many of the readers here but my wife and I love our rainwear and wear it when we can.

Whether we like it or not members need to understand rainwear wasnt invented and developed to feed a fetish it was invented to keep us dry

When I'm arranging photoshoots a model will sometimes ask if I supply the rainwear I usually say 'yes but if you've got your own then please bring it along, at least it will fit you' I've been lucky enough to work with over 100 models now and ONE brought her Pink Primark coat with her, another did bring a coat with her that had belonged to her grandma and donated it to my collection!

I have donated a number of coats, about half a dozen, to models who showed an interest in having them - I have to wonder, after reading some of the post on this forum, if I've done the right thing or have I just set the poor girl up to be approached by someone who wants to masturbate in their pockets, wants to ask if they can wear their coat, wants to touch their coats or just wants to talk to them because they MUST share a fetish - after all why else would they be wearing a mac!!!!!!

Although Primark, Top Shop, ASOS, BooHoo all have a range of PVC / Plastic coats available to main stream buyers and often sell out not many make it to being worn on the High Street, most seem to be festivals only

Girls seem to prefer to carry an umbrella in summer and have 'proper' winter coats

I reckon the festival thing has taken off for a number of reasons, firstly its not very friendly to other concert goers to use an umbrella so rainwear is the order of the day

Plastic rainwear is quite light and easy to pack, its quite cheap and can be - in some cases thrown away, if it's see-thru then you can still wear it and let others see that special outfit you've been planning ever since the last festival

I've seen quite a few blogs wear the blogger gets very positive feedback for the rainwear but this never seems to filter down to the High Street

Well put Ray
I have only approached one lady and Colleen was with me.
That was to both compliment her and ask where she had bought her pvc mac from. (It was an old Dannimac)
That was about a year ago.
