For mine;

1) Plastic
2) Unlined heavy PVC
3) Cotton backed PVC (think the vintage styles of the early seventies such as Rukka)
4) Rubber

Nylon does nothing for me at all ....

Definitely thick, unlined PVC first for me (Maxden are the best I've found), then heavy rubber industrial / military gear, then plastic, then latex, I'm also in the "nylon doesn't work for me" camp too.

I liked the nylon Regatta cagoules a few years ago,but my preference is for plastic and pvc.

Rubber rain wear comes in first...especially SBR. I had one in the past and unfortunately ruined it from "personal" use.
Shiny, heavy PVC and vinyl raincoats are a close second. I have a few of these and love the feel of them.
Nylon...sorry, it doesn't do anything for me. It reminds me of the K-way (I think that's what they were called) pull overs that folded up into a "fanny pack" when not in use. I use to see people wearing them in the rain and wondered how they stayed dry as the material stuck to the clothes when wet.

I love my red and black rubberlined hooded satin mackintoshes worn with matching Hunter willies. Have just returned home after a very wet dog walking session in pouring rain wearing my red mac and wellies.
I'm still wearing my mac after drying the dog in the kitchen and just enjoying the aroma whilst warming up as it drip dries ............it's a good job the floor is tiled. !!!

Rubber, plastic, and my fave pvc. I love womens pvc raincoats with no lining. I love my 52" long shiny pvc raincoats from pvc u like. I'm rather short so they cover most of my body.

thinner pvc, PU, nylon all have a similar effect on me.

Heavy pvc & heavy rubber are a real turn off.
