for me it has to be shiny cotton backed pvc macs from the 60s/70s. (ladies/girls macs). also love the old type yellow pvc sailing smock with attached hood and lace up neck, just lovely things but hard to get hold of these days.
secondly the old rubber lined cotton mackintoshes from early 60s again ladies macs, now very rare to find.
last the old fashioned girls school gabardine mac with hood in green or blue, not many about now.

That sounds like you like rarities!
As you say hard to find and when you do they are expensive!

Best wishes

I absolutely love shiny PVC, unlined and noisy but I do really miss the cotton backed shiny PVC macks from the 60's & 70's. Would love to get one of those again.
I do wish I had tried shiny black rubber macks before they became so difficult to get hold of. The ones from Weather or Not, looked gorgeous.
Since I started reading the wonderful Rainwearist blog, it's really made me appreciate these beaufiful shiny rubber coats even more than before. Hopefully, I might be be able to get one from ebay one day.

Definitely nylon. Cagoules are my favourite. Just to feel that nylon on your skin. Zip up to the neck and put the hood up and tie the draw strings tightly around my face. Oh bliss. Love other rainwear as well but nylon is for me. :-D
