An Englishman in The Netherlands

Hello all,
This morning it was a drizzling rain here in The Netherlands, so I walked with cape and boots and passed a shopping mall.
Suddenly a man, from Amnesty International, who spoke to me in English : ""Good morning Sir, may I have your attention.....""
Because he spoke English I thought he was an English tourist ...and then I realized, he thought -I- was English.
Was that because of the Plastic-You-Like cape?
To the person who walked behind me, he spoke Dutch , as is usual here...
So you see, what (Rain )clothing can do ..... :P
Greetings, Peter

Funny, because if I see someone dressed in unusual rainwear I always think they will be German or Scandinavian;they often are.If I saw someone walking in the rain dressed only in shorts and a shirt I would KNOW they were British!

Hi dear friends,

No need to have a lot of rain for going outdoor wearing wellies and a raincape.
My Master orders me to wear them dayly, whatever the forecast, and wherever we have to go. As well in Paris or in Lyon.
And all goes fine. Some people stare at me, of course. But never a bad felling from them.
In fact I notice that women are more curious and mark a very interest, than men.
I wonder why.

If you can explain this, I would be please to read what you think of that.
