A classic scene from the Hi-de-hi comedy series about a holiday camp in the 50's. About ten minutes of rainwear with Gladys in her plastic mac which appears to be a C&A one from the seventies?

I agree with you that mac does look like a C&A one.
I bought my then girlfriend a mac like that but in blue in 1979.

in addition to the blue plastic raincoat, there are waterproof transparent white, a pink plastic cape and a plastic waterproof black white polka dot.

I remember a few episodes of Hi-de-hi featured plastic macs, the other one I can remember was in a later series and I seem to remember it was based on an outdoor sports day set up

I aslo remember a scene from 'You Rang M'lord' were they wore plastic macs on a train journey

It would be great to think the makers were into the clothing but more likely these items just reinforce the sense of period

yes the C&A 70s plastic macs were not quite of the period as it was set in the 50s but that is being picky. At least they used the macs in afew episodes and they all seemed to join in with wearing them. Wardrobe must have bought a good few of them
