Aprons

We recently stayed at an upmarket city centre hotel which had the usual serve yourself buffet breakfast. It was supervised by a smiling mature(ish) Eastern European (I think) woman who always wore a splendid tan coloured bib apron, secured at the back. She cut an attractive figure as she patrolled the dining room. I couldn't stop my mind wandering to thinking how great she would have looked if her apron had been made of old fashioned brown mackintosh, or even pvc. Probably no chance these days but she rocked the look and one can always imagine. I gave her a nice smile and a "thank you" each time we exited which she readily reciprocated.

Thinking further about this. To many, having, or being expected, to wear an apron would imply a form of subservience, yet to me her wearing one made her come across as almost a figure of authority. I guess it all goes way back to when we very young.

Hello.
When I'm cooking or doing the dishes, I love having Marilyn with me!
