Materials over the years

Me and my wife are working us thru old stuff that haven’t been used for years. Among all, some boxes with stuff I left at my parents place when I left home. Many years later, my parents dumped those boxes at our house and there they were just put in the storage.
Among old cloathes, I found a rainwear that I got from my older cousin when she was 14 and I was 12. Thought it was long time gone, but there it was and I remembered how much I liked it when I was young. Loved to play in the rain when my cousin had it on and I often borrowed it from her, she was ok with that. If I were alone in her house I put it on on my bare skin and had some nice time. Don’t know if she knew that I played with it on my own. If she grow to big for it or if she just didn’t use it anymore, i don’t remember but one day she gave it to me.
And when I found it now I just got som thoughts. This must have been made in the early 70:s and the nylon is quite different compared to newer onse. The nylon is more coars and the treads are thicker. And it seames to have some coating on the inside too, guess it’s PVC.
Have you experienced materials cchanges over the years? Have your favorite material changed in behavior, thickness, smell, etc over the years.
It’s very long since I came across nylon so thick and swischy as this rainwear from the 70:s
