Recently purchased a Farrmerrain retro raincoat limited edition in dark green. This is the Volvo of raincoats - practical, durable, and eminently classic in style. First impressions were that it is solid, and well made from thick cotton lined PVC. The bright metal popper buttons are of good quality and provide a reassuring snap when fastening/unfastening.
The coat is long, I am 5' 8" of medium build and the "large" is a perfect fit. The coat reaches down to just above my ankles, which I like, and there is plenty of room for wearing a jumper or even a few layers underneath. The good quality tie belt is secured by sturdy belt loops and makes an interesting option if desired. Personally, I rather like the belt and have worn it belted so far. There are two deep pvc lined pockets which are adequate for my needs, but they could be enhanced by the addition of a popper to ensure the rain is excluded. This particular version fastens on the male side with five poppers and an inside flap also secured with poppers. Wearing it fully buttoned certainly gives a sense of security and protection, particularly with the cuffs being buttoned. The hood is well designed with the addition of a peak/visor to provide added protection while still enabling good visibility when secured with a well constructed tie at the neck.
I wore the coat fully buttoned, belted and with the hood up during a recent day of heavy rain and strong winds. In my opinion, it performed beyond expectations, keeping me dry and warm all day without being overly clammy inside this delightful coat. There is also a creak to the material which some people (including me) rather like. Walking around a cold, wet Norwich, I couldn't help being amused by the people in their inadequate modern rainwear whilst I was kept warm and dry inside the exquisite comfort of my new coat.

This is simply the best raincoat I have ever owned (and I have owned a fair few in my time). It brings back fond memories of the much loved Rukka, arguably I would say it is an enhanced modern version, and anyone who enjoyed the Rukka might well enjoy this offering from Sweden. I would certainly be tempted to wear it when it wasn't raining, as it does have the look and feel of an outdoor coat rather than just a mackintosh for wet weather. The construction and clever placement of the inner flap certainly keeps the cold wind out which would make it practical for a cold windy day.

In conclusion, although not cheap this coat is certainly value for money and comes in cheaper than others of similar quality which I have looked at. I can find no real criticisms, other than that I want to purchase another in a different colour - perhaps shiny black? It certainly gets a 10/10 from me.

I also love the Farmerrain Retros as a modern Rukka version in classic timeless style. I have several colors, all shiny ones except for the white one. The newer ones have double storm flap in front which is great for keeping the rain out when there is strong headwind while raining. Does your limited green coat also feature this double storm flap?

The regular (shiny) retro coats now are about 20 EUR cheaper than my purchases, but the ltd coats are gone up to 207 EUR. Before they'd been price around 165 EUR here (GER).

If you want it to be really "Rukka-like" you have to do some craftmanship with the belt - e.g. adding a buckle and a loop. And best practice would be exchanging the drawstring of the hood to a thinner cotton one with classic plastic cord ends like the old Rukka coats had. These three steps - buckle, loop and thinner drawstrings with classic plastic cord ends - is the ultimate tuning to make it as close as possible to the classic Rukka coats.
