I was bought my first plastic pacamac (or pakamac-I'm relaxed about the spelling) by my mother when aged about 10. Apart from school when my regulation navy blue gabardine raincoat had to be worn I was hardly out of my pacamac till the time I left school. A late developer, it was not till my late teens I discovered what most other boys had known for years; the other things you could do with a plastic pacamac besides keeping off the rain!
