Raincoat, Mackintosh or what

Post by blackmacjay »

Because it's me, I prefer that my wife chooses a Mackintosh because it sounds sexy.

She prefers a Raincoat.

What do other wives, girlfriends, or others prefer?

Raincoat, Rainmac, or just Mac!
No preference really.

She would say I have chosen the rainmac for you to wear.

For me it's always mackintosh. The word resonates, but is rarely used, more often abbreviated to 'mac'. I adore the sound of the word, and have as much pleasure wearing one as I do in hearing it spoken.

Yes Mackintosh is the correct variation of the word but is a mouthful!

A mouthful, indeed it is. It would be a shame for it to go out of circulation, though.

So long as the full word does get used properly it will not go out of circulation!

This is exactly my reasoning. I, for one, shall carry the flag. Although I suspect the younger generation merely uses it for when they refer to Apple computers. And now, even that has been abbreviated. The only time I tend to hear the word nowadays is in reference to Scottish architects-of the art deco variety, and west end theatre impresario's.

Yes Art Deco style indeed.
Probably the greatest era for Rain Mackintoshes!

We have been born much, much to late, I fear.
