I wonder if she wore them as a way of getting herself noticed. or wether she had a bit of a fetish herself. As you say, there do seem to be a few vids of her in shiny outfits, The black pvc shows off her curves nicely. I wonder if she still wears anything shiny now?

Sorry to burst your bubble but bands like this had 'stylists' and were basically clothes horses for what the stylist told them to wear

Going back even further to the 70's these jackets were the forerunner of the plastic jelly jacket. Brotherhood of Man girls wore them for their Eurovision winner on Top of the Pops, but you get a much better view in this video...
