A message to all of you guys spouting the virtues of Temu.
1) Temu is owned and sponsored by the China government and subsidised to compete and eradicate all western manufacturers to the point that "we" all rely on buying goods from China. Just look at what is happening on the high street, I have just read that New Look is going to be "auctioned off", River island is in trouble and long gone are stores like woolworths or debenhams.
2) Goods manufactured in China are not regulated like goods produced in the EU. China producers still use old and cheaper methods of production which includes plasticisers that are banned in Europe. PVC-U-LIKE has to follow the regulations, we have to use methods and materials that are safe to wear, we have to follow the rules set out in the EU "REACH" document.
3) Quite often we hear "is wearing PVC safe" or "what plasticisers do you use" and yet still buyers are still happy to buy cheap and un-regulated goods from China on line stores where you have no idea what chemicals or processes are being used in the manufacturing process.
4) The pants you buy from Temu or aliexpress were no doubt manufactured in a dirty factory using cheap labour where workers have minimum rights and are abused. If you do your research you will see hundreds of finished goods just piled up on a dirty floor waiting for you to put next to your naked body. Let me just add that Aliexpress uses numerous copyright pictures from PVC-U-LIKE to fool you into thinking its our products and Alipexpress make it impossible to challenge copyright infringement.
5) Why not just carry on buying these products and watch UK and EU manufacturers die away, so many fetish companies who produce PVC, Latex and PU clothing are closing because they cannot compete against these cheap and unregulated factories churning shit out of their factories.
In a few years time when all you can do is buy is crap goods from China don't start crying about "I wish PVC-U-LIKE were still around, I loved their soft PVC raincoats and pants but you can't buy anything like that anymore"
The writing is on the wall, just read it and be warned, you can make a difference by supporting companies based in the UK and EU and buy into quality rather than supporting China and their bad practices.
We all have choices, but think before you buy.

Re: Plastic pants
100% agree, not only the quality and the safety aspect but the personal, friendly interaction with people who understand your requirements and go out of their way to achieve your desired item. And all of this delivered within a matter of days or even sooner if it’s in stock. 99.9% of my collection which is 100% pvc is from PUL, only exception is the vintage blue and yellow reversible raincoats and everytime I want a new item, I know where I’m going and it’s not any of the aforementioned apps or sites

Re: Plastic pants
Totally agree i only buy from PUL, one because of the quality, two because your supporting a great UK company, three their great to do business with, and four great value for money as you get what you pay for in life. So all my PVC wares is 100% from PUL. So dont get tempted by these cheap unregulated rubbish otherwise like too many niche businesses, ideas, and products that are ripped off by these parasites will be the demise to the detriment to us all.pvculike wrote: July 8th, 2025, 6:52 am A message to all of you guys spouting the virtues of Temu.

Re: Plastic pants
Agree PVCULIKE, cheap yes and obviously more affordable, but the materials change from order to order and the sizing is very variable and often not as advertised.

Re: Plastic pants
I just bought a nice pair of women's plastic jeans (correct term coated jeans https://www.jelmoli-shop.ch/p/AKLBB1878 ... gIzTvD_BwE ) on sale and I am already wearing them with a rainwear fabric type of p-panty underneath. I will put an absorbent inside and go grocery shopping and test how waterproof they still are after about 50 uses. I have done that quite a few times with plastic jeans on top. In about a third of the cases the added plastic had shown to be quite useful.

Re Pvc-u-like and Temu
Here are my thoughts…I was going to reply right away but thought I’l let it ride for a while. Bear in mind that I’m in the United States.
Temu may or may not be owned by the Chinese gov’t, but like every Chinese firm it has a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) minder. I do believe that both Temu and AliExpress save a lot of info on their buyers; therefore I’ve bought from their web pages, refusing to download their apps. And speaking of China, is that not the source of essentially all plasticized pic film, no matter where the finished products are made? What conditions is that manufactured under?
I’ve bought quite a few plastic pants from both Temu and AliExpress. Their products show absolutely no evidence of ever having been “piled up on a dirty floor”. In fact I’ve been impressed with the workmanship in nearly everything I’ve gotten from these sources as well as their cleanliness.
But our President has imposed higher tariffs on Chinese goods, and stopped the loophole that allowed Chinese firms to sell small items into the US without tariffs. This has brought about a big difference in higher prices and reduced availability of stuff from AliExpress and Temu, and I very much doubt that I’ll be buying much of anything more from these Chinese vendors. I’m not terribly broken up over this, preferring not to do anything to help out the CCP.
I’ve certainly dealt with Pvc-u-like too over the years and still have several things from them. I much preferred dealing with them directly rather than through MakeItKinky, as we in the US have had to do for several years, with their profit added to the price as well as the overseas shipping costs. The overseas shipping costs, which have become truly outrageous in recent years, are a big reason why I lry to imit my buying to US-manufactured items, not only in plastic wear, but in general.
I know that if I lived in the UK, which still seems to me to be the world center of plasticwear lovers, largely due to PVC-u-like’s existence, I’d be buying there more regularly.

Re: Plastic pants
Loved the Robinson pants that used to have the size stamped in the plastic.

Re: Plastic pants
Never had my nose rubbed in it when I was a child although it was occasionally mentioned in jest. I liked the Robinson's because they were so like the plastic pants I was made to wear as a child. I was sad to have to leave them behind so to speak but did my best to continue to indulge myself, alone and in secret, when the opportunity presented itself. Helping to sort donations for jumble sales was sometimes the only opportunity to get my hands on something useful. Old, no longer necessary, terry squares were often donated and, if one was lucky the associated plastic pants came with them.
