I only have a navy one. I have a different mac in olive green.

I do have a old fashioned plastic pac a mac but feel self consious if i wear it out. I am in my 70s and remember when a plastic mac was worn by everyone.

Re: Rain in the UK
I was far too self conscious to wear a long shiny mac out in public, but i have become more confident in the last 5 years or so, now I go out in it regularly when it is raining.maidjenny wrote: May 30th, 2025, 4:29 am I do have a old fashioned plastic pac a mac but feel self consious if i wear it out. No one notices what you are wearing when it is pissing down with rain

I Agree,
i went out the other day wearing my PUL PVC PJ,s black shiny Hunter wellies, 4/ PUL RAO1 Black shiny macs all done up, belted and hoods up and no one except one in the park took a double take no notice, as the macs being same have no real idea of how many your wearing.

I'm also a little embarrassed to wear my raincoats outside. I think people will look at me and laugh. Maybe I'm making up my mind. I try to gain confidence at least by walking along the river and in the forest.
Yet I am over 60 years old!
I would love to go out with a beautiful raincoat that is very shiny and very eye-catching. But I don't dare.
Nevertheless, I have already found myself in the middle of the street wearing a shiny jelly pants and jacket set. I even met people there, there were no remarks.

I wear shiny raincoats outside, 99% of people don’t even look, it’s all in your mind… get out there and enjoy.

Re: Rain in the UK
Outdoors, during drizzly and overcast/misty or outrightly rainy weather, I have worn:
Shiny Black full length black PVC raincoat. A woman complimented me: "excuse me, I like your mac; it's so shiny. Where did you get it from?"
Glass Glass Clear Green full length PVC raincoat. I recall queing up in Sainsbury, and a woman remarked: "I like your big mac"
Glass Clear Red full length PVC raincoat. "I see you are well-prepared for the horrible weather", a woman remarked.
Glass Clear Blue PVC Jelly Jacket;
Glass Clear Red PVC Jelly Jacket;
Glass Clear Green PVC Jelly Jacket;
One of those clear Green EVA raincoats/festival macs by 'Brave Soul'. By far, I prefer PVC over EVA, but I wore the Brave Soul raincoat/festival mac outdoors once. I was being served by a woman in the garden centre, and she remarked: "It must be raining outside". The Brave Soul festival macs are marketed at women, and the fashion models are all women, but I have never encountered any negativity for wearing a 'womens' mac outdoors. I would say that the design is unisex, even though the Brave Soul festival macs are only sold in the womens clothing section, online.
Sometimes I complement a raincoat or jelly jacket with a clear PVC Fulton-brand dome/birdcage umbrella.
I have shiny black Ellesse hooded 'Tarantino' puffer jackets, made from PU. If you look online, these shiny puffers are marketed at women....the models are women, and they are sold in the womens clothing section, online. Even so, I'd say that the Ellesse 'Tarantino' hooded shiny black PU puffers are unisex in design. During winter cold I regularly wear my shiny Ellessee shiny black 'Tarantino' PU puffer coat, and I never get any negative remarks or double takes.
I've honestly never encountered any negative remarks, such as "poof" (UK), "poofter" (UK), "faggot" (US), "big girl's blouse", "nancy boy", etc. The again, I do not live in a 'rough' area, and I have never dared 'pushing the boundaries' by wearing a shiny fluoro pink mac! (although, I do like the look of shiny pink PVC....it is PVC, after all).
I am not a crossdresser, by the way....just a bloke (US: dude) with a shiny PVC rainwear fetish (and a shiny PVC fetish generally....I have a huge collection of other shiny flexible PVC items, including inflatables and bedding. I have similar tastes to TX-based 'Raincoatboy' in that regard).

Don't be shy wearing your raincoat out in the rain. I usually wear either my black or clear pvc-u-like ones if I need to go out. I have had a few envious comments, especially from an unfortunate couple who were about to enjoy an hour long bus journey in soaked clothes while I just took off my raincoat and was completely dry. You would probably get odd looks on a warm sunny day but not if the weather is wet.

Re: Rain in the UK
I had 2 days holiday last week after the bank holiday and nipped to the supermarket wearing a navy blue cagoule with white zip and drawstrings with a turquoise and navy Patrick cagoule on over the top. I called in again the day after wearing a orange overhead cagoule with the same Patrick cagoule on too. I wondered if the girl who worked on the till knew I was wearing different cagoules under my Patrick cagoule or maybe never even crossed her mind . I enjoy these innocent games.
