Watching out for rainwear in shops and the thrill of spotting something unexpected. All department stores had a clothing section and back in the 80’s it wasn’t whether they stocked shiny rainwear, but how much, and how nice you found it. Even normal shops stocked plastic raincoats although nylon cagoules needed more specialist outdoor shops like Millets or of course C&A or Woolworths. Evan’s, a shop famous in the UK for being aimed at older ladies, I kid you not, stocked black PVC one-piece swimsuits and yes I did buy one!

I saw a TV ad for a facial cleanser, possibly Clearasil, featuring a young woman sat at a dressing table in a pink jelly jacket, I watched and watched for repeats but the ad changed shortly after. At the beginning, Jelly jackets were cool, I bought my first one in a boutique before they became ubiquitous, pity they aren't now.

Absolutely. Back in 89, maybe 90, Grandstand on BBC 1 on a Saturday had a piece on the British Rally, and focused on it from a spectators viewpoint, and it was and had been particularly wet and muddy, looking at ladies and guys in full waterproofs and wellingtons was sooooo horny!! Never forgotten it!! Will try and see if I can find it.
