I know that nostalgia isn't what it used to be but I have the distinct impression that it rained longer and steadier when I was young. Sights like those in the clip were commonplace.

fashion has cycles, rubber raincoats were popular among college girls/flappers in the 1920s; then the trend died out until the mid-70s.
