i plan on wearing my rubber wader suit in the shower. that would be a good place to wash it off after being brand new and having that strong rubber smell.

I cannot speak for waders but I do know that for rubber-lined mackintoshes, the aroma seems to come from the sealing solution used by the makers.

And it does disappear from the garment as a whole including what was left from the sealing process.
