My first memory was when at the age of 3/4 years old my brother had a rubber mack and souwester bought him. I used to love to stroke it and bury my face in it. Since then plastics, vinyl and PVC have taken over, all of which I love.
Plasticmacboy, you were the one that was lucky. Have sent you PM

Yes this was my first experience aged 11. Getting a nylon pakamac instead of the more fashionable anoraks of the time, and being escorted to and from the bus stop by my mother, who would ensure that the pakamac remained buttoned to the neck

I don't know how old I was at the time but I couldn't have been more than 7 years old. We lived in a small terraced house with a "front room" which was only used when you had special guests and for courting. Behind the door of the front room was where we would hang our coats. One day I went into the front room and took my sister's plastic mac off the hook (I probably had to stand on the piano stool to reach it). The mac was semi-see-through and I seem to remember it was white. I put the mac on and did up the buttons; I can't remember whether it had a hood. I was enjoying the feeling being dressed in plastic when the door opened. My father must have wondered where I had gone and found me wearing the plastic mac. He then called my sister asking her whether it was her mac that I was wearing. My sister then kneeled down and undid the buttons of the mac telling me that I mustn't wear it in case I damage it and that she hadn't finished paying for it. She took the mac and put it back on the hook behind the door. Of course, I was too young to realise that it would develop into a full-blown fetish but it gave me a lovely feeling and I think that was the start of my life-long love of see-through plastic rainwear.

Memory 1- wearing a dark navy pvc/vinyl rain jacket to school at maybe age 6. That jacket may have been reversible but don’t fully remember. I thought the side pockets were neat being able to access the pocket contents from either inside the jacket or out. Either way the matte pvc texture I liked.

Memory 2- standing on a boat dock watching speed boat folks in wetsuit tops heading out in the boat. This may have been 1980 or 1981 so the top had some smoothskin type panels.

I was 8 year old and i loved crossdress as a girl , and i used a long vintage shiny blue/yellow raincoat that was hanging in the hall often. It feelt feminine and also it was so shiny and i loved how it looked and feelt and sounded. I got bullied for it but i did it anyway.

Late 1980s. I was around 9-10 years old. My sister had a very shiny turquoise blue plastic raincoat, with Disney characters (Mickey Mouse and Goofy, or something like that) on the back. Back then, it was long before the demonisation of phthalates by the Nanny State and Health and Safety brigade, so you can imagine the PVC material was very soft and smooth. I don't know why, but one night I woke up and felt compelled to try the raincoat on, in the pitch black dark. It was neatly folded on a shelf in my sister's wardrobe. As soon as I picked this neatly and tightly folded raincoat off the shelf, it started to rustle- a lot! I did not want the rustling to wake up my sister (we shared the bedroom at that time), so I proceeded to very slowly unfold the raincoat and slip each arm arm into it. Eventually (after about 10 minutes) I had it on fully, all buttoned-up, and with the hood up. As my luck would have it, my sister did wake up, but was not at all annoyed that I was wearing her raincoat. Instead, we both got into an orange/yellow plastic baby's bathtub (my 'busy' mother had another kid on the way!) and pretended to be fishermen out at sea, in a boat. This was my first encounter with a PVC raincoat, but obviously at the time it was nothing fetish-related, as I was only a young lad of around 9 or 10 years.

I recall, around the age of 9 or 10, that, at the Woolworths store in Upper Norwood, near Crystal Palace, SE19 London, there was a display rack of brightly coloured (red) and very shiny PVC raincoats. For some reason, the 'rustle' they made when I brushed past them, as I walked down the shop aisle with my mother, caught my attention. These very shiny and soft-textured plastic garments behaved rather differently from garments made from cotton, nylon, polyester or wool.

In Westow Street, Upper Norwood, SE19 London, there used to be (in the 1980s) an independent family-run clothing shop named 'Winners'. My mother wanted to have a look inside, and I had to go into the shop with her, being only 9 or 10 years old at the time. On a display rack there were these navy blue glass clear 'Jelly-style' coats, which had these chunky rope-like fastening cords at the hems. For whatever reason I was captivated by these glistening and colourful see-through plastic garments. They were so different to dull and matt fabrics like cotton, nylon, polyester and wool.

Girls wearing rubber swimming hats. Dared to buy my own after a while and things went from there!

Leaving the house to go somewhere with my mom at the age of 5 or so, and realising that I will be dressed in those 90s colorful shiny plastic raincoats and rainpants with rubber boots as it was one of those miserable late autumn days with 4 °C and drizzly rain. (Teal green with blue sleeves, blue hood and red pockets, matching teal green pants and blue below knee, light blue glossy boots). I would say the sound of the plastic fasteners and the sight of a fully drawn up wrinkled hood knotted under my chin (making this shiny round object out of my head and face peering through the wrinkled opening) will never leave me. As I was dressed first, I had to wait for her to get ready, so I had time to just stare at my shiny state in the mirror next to the main door. Feeling completely safe and happy.
