I sweat a lot through my head, and it is normal for me to feel moisture on the inside of my hood very soon after starting a walk in the rain with the hood up. I suppose a hood would have to leak immediately and badly for me to notice the leak.

I would draw a distinction between the kind of grunge one encounters in mud puddles outdoors and the kind that accumulates on raingear when it's used in a chemical plant or on board Navy ships and submarines. Your mention of acid suits reminds me of the time I worked at a chemical plant - among other things they dealt in tank-car loads of sulfuric acid. They sent around a message early in August that they would be closing on Sept. 6. Reading between the lines, it seems as though it may reopen sometime later in the year in some form. The message also said that the website galleries would stay open for a time.
