First impressions were that it is solid, and well made from thick cotton lined PVC. The bright metal popper buttons are of good quality ...

Re: Tell me your stories with your raincoats when you were a child

Being fastened into a plastic mackintosh and enjoying how it made me feel inside. I have recounted this elsewhere on here. Wonderful!

Re: Not macs, but the 1960s shiny diamond quilted hooded anoraks

Re: Guy Cotten Drenec or Alta

I have the Rosbras jacket and matching bib and brace for on the boat in bad weather, far superior than most other equivalent waterproofs. Not a problem to wear casually if desired and certainly hardwearing. I bought mine about 8 years ago and it is still in excellent condition.

Re: Black rainmacs.

At risk of being disciplined for going a bit "off topic", I also enjoyed what was probably a yearly visit to Woolworths to be kitted out with a plastic mackintosh. Other members may recall such shopping trips, and the thrill of trying on a new plastic mackintosh.

Re: Black rainmacs.

Some of the comments here bring back fantastic memories. C&A was another haven for mackintoshes, I well recall going there and admiring the extensive range they used to have in the Autumn. Unfortunately, C&A has long gone from our towns and cities.

Re: Raincoat with or without (you) hood !

If it has a hood it must be up and tightly fastened, in the current situation a mask should be worn as well. For me, anything other than a fully buttoned mackintosh is unacceptable.
