Trying some new for new users

Post by Rainwearboy »

Over the past years to combat spam all new accounts needed to be manually activated by me. Which is a bit of a hassle.

I have now enabled a feature where newly registered users are limited to the Newly Registered forum so we can see what they are up to. I will still have to manually move them to regular users but at least this is a bit more transparent now.

Let's see how it goes.

I see now that not only do new user get places in the new users group but they also get registered user permissions - thus the spam.

I have now made a new role called approved users and all current user should be part of it. If not please let me know.

New users will now be limited to the new users forum where we can suss out if they are any good or have spammy intentions.
