Where are the pacamac lovers?

In the last couple of months the site seems to have switched to being almost 100% heavy rainwear, boots and mud lovers. Even our beloved Phee seems more at home in heavy fishing gear! We all like different things, and it is great that people can share their desires for oilskins and heavy cotton-backed PVC suits, but where have all the plastic, pacamac, cagoule lovers gone? Is everyone too wrapped up (literally) in their favourite transparent, thin, mac, cagoule or PVC leggings to join in the discussions?

Please let me know you guys are still out there!

Apologies to non U.K. members, but I am hoping one of the political parties will make a manifesto pledge for free plastic pants for all adults, with tax incentives to wear them! No less ridiculous than many of the policies being touted, and a heck of a lot more fun to be forced to wear vinyl knickers by the state! This was a party political broadcast on behalf of the PABS Party ... Plastic Against Bare Skin! Come to think of it, we have quite a few fit MPs that could well do with a plastic makeover, I'd vote for them!

We are still here. I must confess I dont always wear transparent and thin macs, but today I am at least wearing my pvc leggings to commute in, they go so well with shiny wellies it would be rude not to he he!

Still here as well. I suppose that with the onset of colder weather, some people prefer heavier garments. I rather like wearing a coat underneath a mackintosh at this time of year.

Hi Jellyman, Havn't seen a Pacamac for many years. Used to love mine when I had one, too many years ago to bear thinking about. Would love one with a hood, or perhaps two, so first is put on back to front so hood can be drawn up over the face. Used to love the feel of the rubbery buttons. What about the government bringing out a new law for 'Mackintosh day' or 'Wellington day' when everybody expected to wear them. Bring out tax relief for all who complied we might see a lot more folk dressed 'properly'.

I have quite a few pacamacs and cagoule. Cant get enough of them. Mens and womens. We are still around.

I wear an old Klepper when it rains (like most of the time these days) and my friends refer to it as my Pakamac.

Still enjoying my PUL mac and also thin proofed cagoules. The only trouble is for the next three months(in the u.k.) it is often a bit too cold to be really enjoyable outside for long.

Whey hey... lovely to see everyone is still around. Not having the opportunity to wear my favourite rainwear in public very much I hadn't considered that heavier gear would be better in the colder weather. I have on occasion worn my regatta over trousers in the garden when it has been very cold and wet and get a thrill at it being too cold and nobody knowing I have the lovely plasticy lining against my bare skin. (For those that don't know, our garden is not outside the flat, but down the road and is in a public space).

I can relate to much in this thread, particularly Jelly Mans' attraction to pure plastic sheet material in its various forms. Going trousers and pants down over the knees of a woman wearing a protective plastic apron used to be an especial, if rare, delight when much younger. I've also enjoyed going out briefly wearing Regatta overtrousers next to the skin, with the added delight that the two piece rainsuit I owned was one of the last they produced with a smooth synthetic rubber lining which stayed colder longer.
