A pleasant surprise w/recent rainwear purchase

Post by TStorm56 »

About a week and a half ago I won an auction for a friesennerz style raincoat on eBay. From the pictures it looked as if the material was the usual PVC/Rayon combo but when I got it in the mail today imagine my surprise to find out that it wasn't PVC, but was rubber! There are a few cracks in the rubber that I will need to repair with waterproof taping, but other than that the coat is in very good shape. I look forward to wearing it out in the rain!

Well done !

It's a very long time since I was able to find one of those anywhere.

I guess that this would have been one of the ones made by Campari in the70s and 80s. Many of them ended up with wrinkled yellow sides because the inner blue canvass type material shrunk and the rubberised yellow did not. They also leaked through the stitching because the seems were neither welded or taped.

Unfortunately there is no label on it. Funny you mention Campari, I have one of their friesennerz style raincoats. The material is a PVC/Rayon mix. It's a nice raincoat to wear even though it is a little tight on me when worn over layers, I guess it is more of a summer raincoat than it is a winter one.
