Muddy Walk in Essex

Post by HarlequinKing96 »

Hey guys,

I'm looking for somewhere muddy to go for a welly walk in Essex. Tidal mud or a woody area would both work for me, though I think I would prefer the latter... just 'cos. Just need to know from the experts...

Hi Beth,
Epping Forest is always good, its quite large so can normally find some quiet low lying areas in there that are muddy.
If interested I would be happy to join you.

Agree with Ian there are some good spots in the Epping Forest, although it is hard to find somewhere that discreet.

I would recommend a spot under the main road bridge into Canvey Island - if you park at the Bird Spotters Car Park at the first roundabout as you arrive into Canvey and then walk from there. The walk does take 25 mins but the spot is so worth it - you can get as deep as you want....

Around Canvey Island is good for tidal mud as it's not too deep and quite easy to get to. Mucking Flats is great if you want to sink to the tops of waders! The River Roach estuary near Barling and the adjacent Little Wakering Creek have lots of fun deep tidal mud where you can sink to the tops of your Hunters!
