are the opal stutterheim raincoats very similar to the aj group opalo raincoats?

yes, they are the same material (which makes sense, since AJ group manufactures both coats). But in my humble opinion the Stutterheim is tailored better, for a more comfortable fit, hence the higher price tag.

so the material is very stiff right? I was hoping they had an unlined coverall.

The material from some Stockholm opal is quite stiff (but if feels great in my opinion, that needs to be said). However the opal capes (Oland) are less stiff. The same applies to the Mosebacke. It looks like they have reduced the thickness somewhat, but I am not sure. The material from the matt / semi glossy versions feels great or even nicer than the glossy versions

Never noticed something similar on our opals, that's one of the things we like ...

I was not sure if it was worth getting an AJ suit if it is too stiff. I am waiting for there to be PVC lined suit.

I have both. As Bill P says the Opal is much better tailored. I happily wear the Stutterheim Opal in public (also have blue opal and black matt finish coats) but prefer the really heavy weight industrial-style AJ jacket and dungarees for DFP at home. Also have AJ trousers and have ordered apron….. Both Stutterheim and AJ are top quality materials and super shiny. AJ creaks a lot more as you move. Not sure why since both are heavyweight pvc. Stutterheim is very expensive but worth every penny. AJ price suits it's industrial type use!
