Ladies Day - Aintree

Ladies Day at Aintree races was wet again this year. Having searched through hundreds of pictures it appears the stupid women who spend a lot of money on their outfits don't mind getting wet. Not found one raincoat shot and only 5-6 plastic ponchos and very few umbrellas, most of them were probably to pissed to notice the rain anyway. A short while ago the fashion world was predicting that the trend was for clear plastic rainwear this year and there does seem to be a lot in the stores, is it just 'us' buying them? The Mirror newspaper heading read - "Brollies and plastic ponchos were the must have fashion accessories at Grand National Ladies Day today" and showed a picture of a line up of ten girls none of which had umbrellas or ponchos!

Roll on the festival season.

Phil.

I've always wondered about that myself. Whenever I see a new shiny raincoat on sale in stores, going all the way back to 2003 they always sell out within a few weeks, but I never see anyone wearing them, with the exception of a few older, well to do women wearing the pricey Jane Post "princess" slickers. When my wife wears hers, her coworkers always ask where she got it and she refers them to Saks Fifth Avenue, but by the time they check they're always sold out. So by my estimation there have been several thousand shiny raincoats sold here in the States in the last 15 years, but not counting my wife's and mine I can count the number I've seen worn in public without running out of fingers and toes. So I also wonder if it's just men like us who are buying most of them.

You'd like it round here Bill_P especially this past Sunday. It rained hard all day and Judy was out and about in her rubber-lined blue mackintosh.

But what can you do when we get 54" of rain per year.

So yes, we get more than 50" per year so we are a true temperate rain forest.
