Fashion Wellingtons
Interesting article about wellies, but let's hope other aspects of our passion enter the field in the same way!

Re: Fashion Wellingtons
All that article promotes is very expensive fashion Wellingtons.
Who would want to pay over £1000 for a pair of wellies?
And then they would not be used for use in the countryside me thinks!
I will stick with my £14 ASDA wellies and my short £9.99 Dunlop wellies from Sports direct!
Yes a cheapskate but they are useable!

When you could still get the boots, the Acquo boots were the best but nowhere near the price being charged at the top.

£400 is acceptible for hand made goods but how can you justify over a grand for rubber boots possibly made in china on a production line?

THe only interesting part of the article:
Hunter – the British welly brand that dates back to 1856 – had a 114% rise in sales of its classic Original Tall Boot design compared with last year.
I always love seeing people wearing those boots, so if there is some sort of comeback I am happy.
Another explanation is that the quality has been so low, they all just buy replacement boots since their previous pair fell apart after only a few months.

Re: Fashion Wellingtons
When Hunter first started out, they made boots for industrial use (they might have made surgical wellingtons too) so they needed to be strong and well-made to be fit for purpose, but like the firm in the film 'Kinky Boots' they turned to the fashion market when the industrial market declined, Barbour are another example of this trend
The fashion market probably aren’t concerned with the longevity of the product as they'll have a different colour for everyday of the week and will invest in the next 'must have' when it hits the market
