There are many PU-coated things in the street: Coats, jeans, skinny leggings...all looks like faked leather or rubberized.
The PVC of the 60/70s was to thick and not stretchy anough to give this illusion.

There are many glossy raincoats to find. Here´s an example:

But you can find some cheaper stuff in other local fashion-shops.
PU is not longer only to get in matte (like rubberized or leather-imitation).

Any years ago, a friend told me how he came into PVC:
He watched on TV a performance that was called "live and dance in the 30th century" and was shown by a broadcast station in New York.
All actors where covered in clear PVC-Fashion. So he was turned on for plastik...

I love my Suprima 1205 PVC pants . Looks like a simply underpants, no buttons.
I try to wear it all days. And I get them cheap in local medical store. But only in white. Different colours are only to get by ordering.

It must be a rubberized Klepper-coat. They where usually in germany as raincoats since the early 30´s. PVC-Coats or capes be worn after the 50´s there as cheaper alternative.
