Thanks for the more info, sadly I do not think I have enough experience to suggest any further help, the rip/holes probably can be patched but the alterations/changes, way out of my league/experience.I wish you well in your endeavours, but as they say in a well known TV programme ...

Ok I think I understand now, with the rip being by the neck line of garment, a patch may still work if the patch is shaped/curved to the shape of the neck line, ie crescent shaped patch, in theory the patch should lie flat & not stretch the curve of the original neck line. If I was attempting ...

I had the same issues, well the fumes from the glue, May I suggest having a look/search for "stormsure" glue, I think the website maybe www.stormsure.com, The significant rip, could possibly be patched? any repair may not be "invisible" but could it add to the story of said garment, well used ...
